First Steps: Where Little Feet Take Big Leaps!

First Steps is a not-for-profit early childhood education center located in Woodstock, NY. Since March 1998, we have been licensed by the NYS Office of Child and Family Services (OCFS). In addition to our commitment to high-quality care, First Steps is proud to participate in Quality Stars NY and collaborate with the Onteora Central School District to offer both half-day and full-day UPK classrooms.

Housed within the Overlook United Methodist Church, First Steps boasts spacious classrooms, a large gross motor room, and a dedicated napping room that is separate from the play and educational areas. Our center also features a playground and the Peace Garden, offering children a variety of enriching spaces.

We are deeply committed to fostering a welcoming, nurturing, and child-centered environment that supports the growth of both children and their families. First Steps remains dedicated to embracing our community as we learn, grow, and explore together.

Universal Pre-K

First Steps’ Universal Pre-K program provides a nurturing, play-based learning environment where children develop esential social, emotional, and academic skills. Our experienced educators foster curiosity, creativity, and confidence through engaging activities that prepare children for Kindergarten and beyond. We ensure every child receives a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Pre-School

First Steps’ Pre-School program offers a warm, engaging environment where young learners develop essential social, emotional, and cognitive skills. Through play-based activities, hands-on learning, and guided exploration, our experienced educators nurture curiosity and confidence, preparing children for a seamless transition to Pre-K and a lifelong love of learning.

Summer Camp

First Steps’ Summer Camp is a fun-filled, enriching program designed to keep young minds active and engaged all summer long. With exciting activities, creative projects, outdoor play, and hands-on learning, our camp fosters social growth, creativity, and exploration in a safe, nurturing environment - making summer both educational and unforgettable!
